Cool Power's EMMA is increasingly being used to optimise the use of energy generated by wind turbines and water turbines in Ireland. Our data shows that without EMMA 54.4% of the output from domestic wind turbines is lost to grid. With EMMA installed, no output is lost to the grid.
Throughout Ireland, the EMMA SP35 is being used with domestic wind turbine micro-generators, including in Burtonport, Co. Donegal (6kW wind turbine); Kinsale, Co. Cork (5kW wind turbine), Skibbereen, Co. Cork (6kW wind turbine) and Fanore, Co. Clare (5kW wind turbine).
A smart-grid EMMA DSM unit is being used to optimise the performance of a 90 year old restored water turbine micro-generator in Andover, UK. Details and photos (PDF, 2 pages)
Domestic wind turbine, Co. DonegalA 6kWp wind turbine with an EMMA 35SP. EMMA manages the energy produced by the wind turbine so that any surplus power is stored in a large thermal reservoir where it is used for heating and/or hot water. When the owner switches lights and appliances etc. off at night, all the power from the turbine goes into his heating system, so none of the electricity produced by his wind turbine is wasted.
