Cool Power's high-efficiency grid-connected solar PV flatpacks are the simplest and most economical way of meeting or exceeding the renewable requirements for new houses and apartments, as set out in Part L 'Conservation of Fuel and Energy' of the Building Regulations 2007 issued by the Department of the Environment.
The renewable energy requirement for new residences can be achieved by using 4 kWh/m²/annum of renewable electrical energy. For a typical 120m² residence all that is needed to meet this requirement is circa 0.5 kWp of solar PV.
The smallest flatpack (a 1 kWp system) generates 1,000 kWh of renewable electricity per year – meeting the renewable energy requirements for any house or apartment up to 250 m2.
Many local authorities require higher percentages of renewable energy to be used by new residences. Such requirements are easily met by installing solar PV.
