30 April: EMMA comes No.1 in Construction Industry Federation's Top 50 Products.
Construction magazine publishes a list of the Top 50 products that "impress us with their innovation and practical application for industry". EMMA comes top of the list. Construction magazine describes the function of the EMMA controller as about to become "essential for those wishing to avail of time based tariffs following the introduction of smart meters in Ireland". 3 March: Tesco saves 1,000kg of CO2 using CGE Cool Power solar PV system
More than 650 students from six primary and secondary schools in Tramore enter a competition organised by Tesco to celebrate 1000 kg of CO2 saved by CGE Cool Power’s Photovoltaic solar panels at Tramore’s Eco Store, within the system's first four months of operation. Read more and see photos.
5 Feb: Cool Power Products expands with CGE Cool Power
Coolair Green Energy (CGE), part of the Coolair Group, acquires the business of Cool Power Products Ltd. and begins trading as CGE Cool Power. The acquisition greatly enhances the company's technical resources and its nationwide sales and distribution network. "CGE Cool Power plans to build on the reputation Cool Power Products currently has in Ireland and to expand its operations to meet the ever increasing demand for Solar PV we are fortunate enough to be experiencing at the moment" explains Tim Cooper, founder of Cool Power Products and Director of CGE Cool Power. 8 Nov: Cool Power delivers energy savings for Limerick County Hall and Library HQ
Limerick County Hall and Library Headquarters become the first state-owned buildings in the country to install photovoltaic solar panels to reduce their carbon footprint and energy usage. Limerick County Council estimates that the project, delivered by leading solar electricity provider Cool Power, will reduce the local authority’s fossil energy consumption in the buildings by 15%.
23 Oct: Cool Power helps Watermint achieve Ireland's first A1 energy rated apartments
Watermint, Ireland's first A1-rated development, which uses Cool Power's solar photovoltaic (PV) and smart load management system, is launched. More than 80 solar PV modules installed by Cool Power provide roughly one kilowatt peak (1 kWp) of solar electricity for each apartment in the development. This meets around 30% of each individual apartment's annual electricity requirements, and reduces their Building Energy Rating (BER) by 36 kWh/m2/yr.

3 Oct: Cool Power provides solar electricity for Tesco's first "Passiv Haus" supermarket
Tesco's new eco store in Tramore, Co. Waterford is launched. It uses a grid-connected 8.4 kWp Cool Power solar electricity system in conjunction with other energy saving design features to achieve an energy footprint that is 45% less than a typical supermarket of the same size. Tesco's eco store is the first Irish supermarket to meet the international "Passiv Haus" (passive house) standard.
25 Sept: Cool Power wins Best Example of Energy Management in the EnviroCom 2008 Awards.
Cool Power wins an award that recognises the many environmentally friendly and carbon reducing projects that the company has delivered, including its showcase project, the new headquarters of Irish Lights in Dun Laoghaire. The awards were presented by the Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown Healthy County Forum to recognise the environmental achievements of businesses and agencies that operate within the county of Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown.
15 Sept: Cool Power's tracking array delivers record 22% increase in energy
Data from Cool Power's test site indicates the solar pavilion - an array of solar panels that tracks the sun throughout the day - generates 22% more energy than an equivalent fixed (non-tracking) array. The data suggests that the annual output from the solar pavilion will be a record 1450 kWh per kWp per year.
July: Cool Power speaks at the House of Commons
Tim Cooper, founder of Cool Power, is invited to speak at to the Economic Committee of the British-Irish Inter-Parliamentary Body at its Committee meeting in the House of Commons. The Committee comprises a select group of TDs, Senators, MPs and members of the House of Lords. In a follow up letter, the Committee concludes that "It is clear that Cool Power Ltd. is taking a leading role in promoting sustainable energy usage in Ireland", and noted that "[Cool Power's] contribution was the main talking point at the dinner in the evening."
21 April: Cool Power launches EMMA
Cool Power launches EMMA, its innovative Energy and Micro-generator Manager. This intelligent smart load management controller can be used alone, with any micro-generator (including solar PV, wind or water turbines) and/or with an ESB smart meter to optimise how electricity is used in buildings and to reduce energy bills and CO2 emissions. Used in conjunction with Cool Power's solar PV systems, EMMA can reduce domestic daytime grid electricity consumption to zero.
